Description

Come join the Consumer Group (CG) AI Team as a Staff AI Scientist. You will lead the application of AI science across the organization, driving end-to-end model architecture and collaborating with product managers, engineers, and designers to align model metrics with business goals. This is a hands-on technical leadership role — you'll design solutions, lead scrum teams, and directly shape the customer experience through data-driven decision making.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define success criteria and align model metrics with business goals
  • Lead scrum teams, design model solutions, and drive end-to-end architecture
  • Perform hands-on data analysis, ETL, and feature engineering with large datasets
  • Apply data mining, NLP, and machine learning paradigms (classification, regression, deep learning, recommender systems) to real-world problems
  • Design and run A/B tests; communicate impact and recommendations to leadership
  • Stay current with ML advancements and evaluate new techniques for customer-facing applications
  • Mentor and provide technical direction to other AI Scientists on the team

Qualifications

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field
  • 4+ years of industry experience in AI Science, Machine Learning, or a related field (e.g. Masters + 5 years industry, or PhD + 3 years industry)
  • Strong experience with optimization techniques (combinatorial, gradient-based, Bayesian), NLP, and Explainable AI
  • Proficiency in Python, Scala, Java, and/or R
  • Strong SQL, Hive, SparkSQL skills; comfort working in Linux environments
  • Demonstrated ability to build reusable, end-to-end ML pipelines
  • Tech lead scope with strong end-to-end model experience, including scalability
  • Strong communication skills — able to translate complex technical work for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Independent, adaptable, fast learner who can operate with technical lead scope

Pay offered is based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location. The expected base pay range for this position is:
Mountain View $209,500 - $283,500
