As an Oracle Data Center Engineer, you will be the technical liaison between the technology teams and the Data Center Environment and will be key in maintaining the Operational run aspects. You will be supporting our growth path and will be recognized as a ‘technical expert’ with a focus on core Data Center infrastructure. You will troubleshoot and solve all but the most complex infrastructure issues. As a pragmatic problem solver on a wide range of Data Center environment and systems you understand which issues to escalate to the appropriate resolver groups. You will proactively monitor the customer environment by checking system error logs, monitoring ticket queues and consulting with other groups involved in maintaining the environments. You will make recommendations to resolve system errors and performance issues and take corrective actions. You create and maintain documentation on technologies you support. You understand all aspects of the equipment you support. You know how to innovate and make decisions on his/her own, but also know how to take direction when it is given, paying attention to all details involved. Expected to improve current processes, and introduce automation with aim towards simplification.
You are able to execute small projects on your own and work with your manager in planning and executing larger local projects. You understand all aspects of the equipment you support. Ideally we are seeking someone from a reputable Cloud provider and are also open to receiving applications from Tier 1 Data Center colocation providers. This would suit an individual who is able add significant value based on existing experience whilst evolving their career upstream into Cloud Services .
Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI security clearance w/polygraph
- DoD 8140 Certification such as Security+ or higher
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent work experience.
- 3-8 years of experience, primarily in Data Center infrastructure Operations support and server administration in a mid-sized environment (200 - 1000+ server systems)
- Must have demonstrated expertise in two or more of these areas:
- Power Capacity allocation – high and low density racks
- Incident management and resolution on outages
- Systems administration (Linux and/or Windows Servers)
- Networking (DNS, TCP/IP)
- You should also be able to demonstrate
- A solid level understanding of data center design, commissioning and operations best practices and ensures their application
- Examples of process improvement execution
- Examples of a drive to dig into the details of a system or process to solve customer problems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong Adherence to Process and be process champion
- Strong influencing skills
- Ability to work independently, with little direct management Experience supporting large, Enterprise customers in an Operations environment
Key Responsibilities
Ideal candidates will be expected to:
Data Center Operations and Technical Support
- Understand the design, functionality, and operational requirements of data centers within the assigned region.
- Perform advanced break/fix, hardware maintenance, troubleshooting, and lifecycle support for servers, components, power distribution equipment, and supporting infrastructure.
- Monitor and manage work within ticketing systems, ensuring issues are resolved within established Service Level Agreements.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex or non-routine technical issues and provide guidance to less experienced technicians.
- Identify recurring failures or operational trends and work with internal teams to conduct Root Cause Analysis and develop appropriate Corrective Actions.
- Provide after-hours support when required to maintain operational availability.
Network Installation and Connectivity
- Support implementation of defined network configurations, installations, augmentations, and connectivity requirements within data center environments.
- Validate cabling, device connectivity, network builds, and installation quality to ensure systems are properly connected and operating without errors.
- Guide less experienced technicians on network installation, cabling, troubleshooting, and established implementation standards.
- Coordinate with network engineering and other technical teams to troubleshoot connectivity issues and support infrastructure deployments.
Critical Infrastructure and Capacity
- Support audits and assessments of electrical, mechanical, power, cooling, and capacity requirements within assigned facilities.
- Work with project teams and colocation partners to test and validate the installation, operation, and performance of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Partner with local colocation providers to understand and coordinate site utility and infrastructure requirements.
- Participate in operational reviews and analyze technical data to identify reliability, resiliency, capacity, and availability concerns.
- Provide technical expertise in identifying and resolving risks affecting critical data center infrastructure.
- Support failure analysis, maintenance initiatives, troubleshooting activities, and reviews of operating and maintenance procedures.
Safety, Security, and Compliance
- Ensure adherence to established Standard Operating Procedures, Methods of Procedure, change control requirements, site policies, and colocation vendor requirements.
- Maintain compliance with applicable security procedures and support functional testing of physical security systems when required.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with health and safety standards, including personal protective equipment, site access requirements, and data center specific safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, operational procedures, troubleshooting records, and supporting documentation for assigned data center environments.
Collaboration and Vendor Management
- Act as a technical liaison between data center operations, engineering, networking, server hardware, project management, environmental health and safety, security, and other supporting organizations.
- Build productive relationships with internal stakeholders, colocation providers, contractors, and vendors.
- Ensure contractors and vendors provide quality services and meet established operational and contractual expectations.
- Work with regional leaders and business stakeholders to execute projects, optimize operational performance, and improve the reliability and efficiency of colocation, leased, and owned data center infrastructure.
- Support the review and resolution of infrastructure and build-related issues and provide recommendations that improve quality and prevent recurrence.
Leadership and Continuous Improvement
- Serve as a recognized technical resource within the team and provide subject matter expertise to other organizations when needed.
- Mentor and coach less experienced technicians on troubleshooting, hardware maintenance, network installation, operational procedures, and data center best practices.
- Complete complex or ambiguous assignments with limited direction while helping the team adjust priorities and resources based on operational needs.
- Develop, document, and share procedures for resolving routine and non-routine technical issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, workflows, documentation, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Support the development and training of team members through knowledge sharing and practical technical guidance.
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies, tools, industry practices, and data center operational standards.
- Approach technical and operational challenges with a positive mindset and develop practical, creative solutions when established approaches do not fully address the problem.
Additional Requirements

US: Hiring Range in USD from $27.64 to $56.83 per hour; from: $57,500 to $118,200 per annum.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
